Marketing Website & Help Website Offline due to vendor failure

If you've been trying to get to our website for the last 5 hours or so - yes, you read that right - you would have found it unresponsive. The reason was that the company we use to host www.accelo.com and help.accelo.com suffered a significant outage.

Note that the servers running the Accelo service are completely separate and were not affected at all by this outage.

We're following up with the company we have our server hosted with, Dreamhost, to find out more information, but the preliminary information is that their UPS (which is supposed to protect delicate electronics) instead sent a power surge through some of their core network infrastructure and completely fried two critical pieces of network equipment. The result was the hosting facility we were in, after initially suffering a power failure, then suffered a failure in core networking infrastructure which had to be rushed to the location and implemented as quickly as possible.

Obviously this experience is very frustrating for us and our users (not only was it impossible for our users to use our Help website, but we were also unable to accept new customers signing up!), the good news is that it in no way affected our robust infrastructure that hosts our customer's Accelo accounts.
