Power BI Integration Updates

Over the past few months, our Accelo experts have been working long and hard to put the finishing touches on our new integration with Power BI, which is now out of beta and available to all!

During the course of the beta period, we managed to rack up more than 200 feature requests from clients, which we've since rolled out and would like to share with you! These include:

General Fixes and Changes

  • Signoffs - All, Issues, Jobs: Removed the duplicate "Creator ID" column.
  • Milestones: Changed the name of the "Date Due" column name to "Date Planned Due".
  • Budget - Jobs: Fixed a typo in the "Non Billable Time Logged (Seconds)" column.
  • Budgets - All, Contracts, Issues, Jobs, Milestones, Tasks: Renamed the "Budgets.remaining_subtotal**No Definition Yet**" column to "Remaining Time (Seconds)".
  • Budgets - All, Contracts, Issues, Jobs, Milestones, Tasks: Updated the Data Type of all fields that were displayed in hours, minutes or seconds to format that data as a Decimal Number.
  • Budgets - All, Contracts, Issues, Jobs, Milestones, Tasks: Updated the Data Type of all other fields which don't display text to format that data as Currency.

New Columns / Data Points

  • Custom Fields - Contracts, Issues, Jobs, Prospects: Added new columns for Sensitive, Important and Exported.
  • Contract Periods: Updated the Data Type from general text to Timestamp for Date Created, Date Current Period Expires, Date Expires, Date Last Contacted, Date Started.
  • Jobs, Milestones & Tasks: Added a new column entitled "Duration" which identifies the number of days between the Start and Due Date.
  • Jobs, Milestones & Tasks: Added a new column entitled "Days Passed" which identifies the number of days which have passed since the Start Date.
  • Budget - All, Contracts, Jobs, Milestones, Issues, Tasks: Added a new column entitled "Real Cost - Hours" which identifies the amount of budgeted hours expected to remain unused at work completion.
  • Budget - All, Contracts, Jobs, Milestones, Issues, Tasks: Added a new column entitled "Hours % Ahead" which identifies the percentage of budgeted hours expected to remain unused at work completion.
  • Budget - All, Contracts, Jobs, Milestones, Issues, Tasks: Added a new column entitled "Planned Value (Hours)" which identifies the average number of hours logged for each day which has passed.
  • Budget - All, Contracts, Jobs, Milestone, Issues, Tasks: Added a new column entitled "Earned Value (Hours)" which identifies the amount of budgeted hours expected to remain unused at work completion, based on the current Hours % Ahead.
  • Budget - All, Contracts, Jobs, Milestones, Issues, Tasks: Added a new column entitled "Cost Variation (Hours)" which identifies the dollar difference between the total earned value, and the real cost.
  • Budget - All, Contracts, Jobs, Milestones, Issues, Tasks: Added a new column entitled "Cost Variation (Percentage)" which identifies which identifies the percentage difference between the total earned value, and the real cost.
  • Budget - All, Contracts, Jobs, Milestones, Issues, Tasks: Added a new column entitled "Calendar Variation (Hours)" which identifies the difference in hours between the earned value of hours and planned hours.
  • Budget - All, Contracts, Jobs, Milestones, Issues, Tasks: Added a new column entitled "Calendar Variation (Percentage)" which identifies the percentage difference between the earned value of hours and planned hours.
  • Budget - All, Contracts, Jobs, Milestones, Issues, Tasks: Added a new column entitled "Schedule Performance Index" which identifies the budgeted amount which has been allocated to each hour of work logged.
  • Budget - All, Contracts, Jobs, Milestones, Issues, Tasks: Added a new column entitled "CPI" which identifies the average profitable value of each hour of work logged.
  • Budget - All, Contracts, Jobs, Milestones, Issues, Tasks: Added a new column entitled "Estimate at Completion (Hours)" which identifies the expected number of hours which will be logged by the conclusion of the work.
  • Budget - All, Contracts, Jobs, Milestones, Issues, Tasks: Added a new column entitled "Estimate to Completion (Hours)" which identifies the expected number of hours which still need to be logged in order to conclude the work.

New Data Tables

  • Types - Expenses: Includes the description of your customized Expense Types 
  • Asset Custom Field Values: Includes the values which have been applied to your Assets' Custom Fields.
  • Contract Custom Field Values: Includes the values which have been applied to your Contracts' Custom Fields.
  • Issue Custom Field Values: Includes the values which have been applied to your Issues' Custom Fields.
  • Job Custom Field Values: Includes the values which have been applied to your Jobs' Custom Fields.
  • Prospect Custom Field Values: Includes the values which have been applied to your Prospects' Custom Fields.
  • Activity - Classes: Includes the ID and name of your Activity Classes.
  • Issues - Priorities: Includes the ID and name of your Issues' Priorities.
  • Leave Calendar: Includes the title, dates and included staff members of leave calendar events.  Includes both company-wide events, and individual staff events.
  • Contract Periods: Includes the dates, budget and rate details of individual Contract Periods.

Standard Report Updates

  • Updated "Tasks" report's existing visualizations to use the new Statuses table.
  • Updated "Retainers" report's Retainer Type graph to filter out "blank" Types.
  • Updated "Tickets" report's Priority Level graph to use the new Priority table.
  • Updated "Tickets" report's Type graph to filter out "blank" Types.
  • Updated "Sales Closing Rates" report's Prospect Type graph to filter out "blank" Types.
  • Updated "Lost Sales" report's Prospect Type graph to filter out "blank" Types.
  • Updated "Won Sales" report's Prospect Type graph to filter out "blank" Types.
  • Updated "Sales Forecast" report's Type graph to filter out "blank" Types.
  • Updated "Sales Pipeline" report's Type graph to filter out "blank" Types.
  • Replaced "Timesheet" report's Rate graph with something useful.

Large Tables Split Into Multiple Tables

  • Expenses: Split the single table into separate tables for each type of object the Expenses could be logged against, including Issues, Jobs and Contract_Periods
  • Addresses: Split the single table into separate tables for Postal and Physical Addresses.
  • Timers: Split the single table into separate tables by type of object they're being recorded against 

Column Name Updates

  • Assigned Column Names to Addresses Table.
  • Assigned Column Names to Expenses Table.
  • Assigned Column Names to Types - Contracts table.
  • Assigned Column Names to Types - Issues table.
  • Assigned Column Names to Types - Jobs table.
  • Assigned Column Names to Types - Prospects table.
  • Assigned Column Names to Types - Assets table.
  • Assigned Column Names to Types - Expenses table.
  • Assigned Column Names to Statuses - Issues table.
  • Assigned Column Names to Statuses - Jobs table.
  • Assigned Column Names to Statuses - Prospects table.
  • Created and apply titles to the columns returned in the Leave Calendar Query.
  • Created new columns to show date_started and date_ended as actual dates in the Calendar query.
  • Added the contract_period_id field to all of the Activities tables.  Define it as Contract Period ID.
