Rich Text in Activities Preview

As the most requested feature in our Ideas Forum, the ability to create notes, emails and other Activities in Accelo using Rich Text - bullets, bold, italics, links - has been in demand for a long time.

Today we're excited to announce the Preview of this new feature, available for all Accelo users!

To use it, simply change the domain you use to access Accelo to the new Preview domain by changing the address domain yourdomain.accelo.com to yourdomain.rte.accelo.com.

When you log into this Preview account, you'll be seeing all your same Live data. Any changes that you make in the Preview account will be applied immediately to your Live account - they use the same database. This special Preview domain unlocks this new functionality, and you can choose to go back to your Live system at any time just by changing your domain name back.

Like all Previews, this feature isn't quite ready for prime time yet - that's why it is a Preview! The main thing to note is that this Preview only applies to the creation of Activities from the Add Activity pop-up window and through in-line replies.

This means, for now, Rich Text isn't yet available in:

• Progressions, the business process feature of Premium editions of Accelo.

• Triggers, the rules/automation feature of Premium editions of Accelo.

• Reports, where you log time and make notes on a scheduled meeting.

• Activity emails that are part of Quote sending, Invoice sending, Purchase Order sending, Signoff sending or Client Portal invitations.

• Log Work or Timesheet screens (which do actually create activities, but just not Rich Text ones yet)

Additionally, if you start using the new Preview (alongside your main Accelo account, which we call Live), you'll want to note:

• When you create an Activity using the Rich-Text enabled Preview domain, you shouldn't then edit the content in your Live domain - this will result in only the plain text version being adjusted and the changes being out of sync with the Rich-Text version.

• When you create a Meeting activity and see it synchronized to Google Calendar or Office365/Exchange you'll only see the plain text version for now. We'll be adding the rich text sync feature after we go live with the rich text feature, as the bi-directional sync means that we can't "half do it".

One area of functionality that we aren't supporting yet through Rich Text is the capture or ingestion of Rich Text emails as part of our email capture system. We're looking forward to bringing this into Accelo, but it is going to take a bit of time to make sure we do it in a way which doesn't slow down the system or expose your account to security issues (emails can come from anyone, and they could have content that tries to expose your data so we aren't taking any chances).
