Another week of product updates for you! With continued work on our JIRA integration, Job View Improvements, and more, here’s another quick summary of some of our other wins.
UI improvement on the View Company screen: We’ve renamed the “recently updated” section of the platform to “recent work”, which showcases projects, sales, tickets and retainers that have had time/activity recently logged against them. The reason for the name change was to eliminate confusion around the wording since “recently updated” implies that it also includes objects that were recently created or edited, which wasn't accurate.
Import projects or jobs into Accelo, seamlessly: While you can import companies, contacts, sales and invoices, importing projects hasn’t been possible because of their complexity. The new import feature allows you to bring in the basic details of a project such as the client & contact, project title, status, type, budget, start/due dates and any custom fields you might have configured. Importing the full project plan isn't possible at this time, but we already have a project template import which will allow you to bring in all the milestones and tasks including their budget details - so between these 2 import features you can get up an running quickly.
UI improvement for list screens: We’ve replaced more of our drop-down arrows with a 3-dot vertical pattern, for consistency and ease-of-use. We’ve also removed the borders from “icon buttons” so pages look less overwhelming.
Non-billable ticket types now respected: Now that a ticket with a non-billable (Time only) budget results in activities/work on the ticket also being non-billable, our team have improved the creation of an issue/ticket to respect the non-billable setting based on the type of ticket. Now when a ticket is created, if the type of ticket is configured as Billable = No, then the new ticket will have its budget set accordingly.
More "Fixed Price" options for Quotes & Job Templates: Recently we upgraded the projects module to allow the configuration of a budget whereby project materials & expenses can be attributed against the fixed price of a project rather than being billed separately. These budget config options have been extended into the Quote Estimate and Job Template screens to ensure a consistent experience when managing the financials - from starting the sales process right through to delivering and invoicing the client project.
Better touch-screen support when navigating:Some tablet users noted that the touch-screen experience was less than ideal when using the main navigation in Accelo. We've spent some time optimizing the touch behaviour here to make it more intuitive and responsive.
Timesheet Export - additional work type detail:After hearing from a few users how much it would help to see the type of project (or issue, or retainer) that a time entry/activity relates to, we spent a little time updating the timesheet report export features to include this detail in a new column called "Reference type". We hope a few more of you find this information helpful!
2-Factor Authentication set-up improvements:This configuration screen caught the attention of our UX gurus - for all the wrong reasons! It wasn't just unpleasant to look at.. many of the configuration steps were out of order! We've now polished it up so the next time a colleague looks to configure 2-factor authentication for their Accelo account, we think they will find the process much easier :-)
Edit Milestone Budget without page reload:Yep, this is another move to improve usability and avoid reloading the entire Accelo interface where possible. In this case if you're viewing a milestone and make a change to the budget using the Edit Budget pop-up, saving your changes now happens in-line. Neat.
