New & Improved Configuration Interface

One of the things that makes Accelo is special is that you're able to configure it to reflect the way you work, with your own business processes, custom fields, alerts and more. For the Prospects, Jobs & Projects, Issues & Service and Contracts & Retainers module, you're able to define different types, statuses and more, but if we're honest, the previous interface for configuring and customizing Accelo left a lot of be desired.

Well, not anymore!

We've recently released a new and improve configuration screen for setting up your own business processes and fields, which we hope will make it much easier for you to configure your business processes, fields and more. You can now access this new screen from the main left hand navigation - if you've got admin rights, you'll see the "configuration" link in place. Alternatively you can click on the Admin heading at the top of the left hand navigation and access this new screen along with all the other admin & setup screens.

From the configuration screen, you're able to create and edit the different types of prospects, jobs, issues or whatever it is that you're configuring, and then for each type, you're able to define custom business processes - we call them progressions.

Progressions & Actions

If you're familiar with the concept of a flow chart, each status is like a "box" in a flow-chart, and the progressions are the lines that join the boxes together. By nominating a starting and ending status, you're able to provide your users with a clear business process to follow, improving consistency and coordination across your team.

On each progression, you can configure what we call actions - things that happen, like asking the user to enter some information into a field, or upload a file, create a task or send an email to another user. By combining Progressions and Actions, Accelo becomes your central system for managing all business processes.

Extensions Fields

Extensions are custom fields that you can define for a specific type of prospect, job, issue or contract. They can be all sorts of field types - from drop down lists through to text boxes, date fields and even links back to specific companies or staff. Extensions make it easy for you and your team to capture key bits of information about the work you do, and you can configure progression actions so that users are prompted to enter or update extensions as part of a business process.

Configuring Account Information - Including Currencies!

One of the other requests we've had from users is the ability to configure more of their information and preferences within Accelo. We now have two new configuration screens that allow you to quickly and easily update key aspects of Accelo across your organisation; we'll be adding more fields and options to these screens in the future.

The General Configuration section allows you to update a few key fields, including the symbol to display for your currency throughout Accelo. So, if you're one of our English friends who've been looking forward to seeing instead of $ in your interface, now you can!

To access the General Configuration section, click on Admin in the top of the left hand side navigation, and then head to the bottom and click on the link with the green tick icon.
